Margaret A. Hallisey Exceptional Service Award


About Peggy Hallisey:                                                                            

A graduate of Regis College, Peggy earned a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College.  She was inducted into the Beta Phi Mu LIS International Honor Society in 1988 and worked as a school librarian for the Winchester MA, Cambridge MA, and Burlington MA Public Schools.

Peggy was a past president of the Massachusetts School Library Association (MSLA), a Region One Director on the Board of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).  In 2010, she received the MSLA Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to advocating for equitable student access to strong library programs.

 Peggy was a board member of the New England School Library Association.  She was the editor of the NESLA Views and manager of the NESLA listserv.  In 2008, Peggy was inducted into the NESLA Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to the library media field through her efforts at the state, regional and/or national level.  Peggy’s contributions enhanced the stature, reputation and the overall strength of NESLA. Peggy is an inspiration and role model for school library leaders.

 Criteria/Eligibility:

The nominee will have a long-standing record of service to NESLA and demonstrated leadership within the New England region.

The nominee and the individual making the nomination must be members of NESLA.

Award: plaque and recognition on the NESLA website

Submit an application, a Google form, to NESLA by February 1st.
